tumbling outta blogspot.

going here.

bye-bye, blogspot. it's been real. I'm sad to say I just can't get coherent thoughts together lately, only small snippets here and there, when the mood hits. and tumblr is just that.

I hope I don't disappoint you.

see ya there!

back to the future.

I jump out of the van and unlock the back door so the girls can go in, take shoes off, wash up. . while they're doing that, I unload the van, grab the baby toddler, and head in. did my 3 1/2 year old go straight to the bathroom like I asked? nope. she found the opened container of cake icing with which i was attempting to use on her sister's cake earlier, and had completely helped herself.

wordlessly, I directed her to the bathroom.

later, she is a glue & glitter mess. her hands, her hair, her does the shiny stuff end up allll over?? again, I tell her to go wash up as I clean up her mess. I mean, art creation.

I hear the water running for quite some time. upon further inspection I see she has squirted half of the brand new tube of toothpaste into the sink as she is brushing her teeth. I'm not sure why she is brushing her teeth. again, wordlessly, I clean it up & declare it's now Room Time.

off we go to her room. she asks to return to the living room and get her treasured real helium balloon her grandparents brought her yesterday. yes. I wait for her. and wait. thoughts of cake icing and glitter paint on the walls spur me to hunt her down. there she is, back at the art table. beginning another glitter project. (yes, I cleaned it up from before. yes, she found an almost empty tube of glitter from the trash can).

again, fearing my words, I silently pluck her from the table and carry her to her room where her sister is playing happily with princesses and ponies.

and I make myself think of her future as a creative arts designer at a big advertising agency.

and I feel much better.

a couple of things.

so I had some leftover garden stakes laying around and put them to even better use building a little tent for the kiddos.

it fits in so nicely down by the campfire ring thing.

the girls were all ready to come inside, but when the last old sheet was hung, they grabbed baby dolls and retreated inside the tent for another two whole hours.

I was sorta disappointed, because if they hadn't, I was going to promptly take a nap in it.

and I just wanted to show y'all what country girl legs look like.

and one more thing..

this was one little girl's last day being four years old.

tomorrow I celebrate being a parent for five years.

because it's all about me, you know.

these are the facts.

fact #1: water and glitter don't mix.

fact #2: springing forward is way better than falling back. welcome, longer mornings. nice to see you again.

fact #3: no matter how long my day, my husband is probably more tired than I am.

fact #4: little kid underwear is too cheap to try to salvage after a potty accident. for real. just toss it.

fact #5: black spray paint really works magic.

fact #6: if your 3 year old picks your only blooming daffodils of the season, it's okay. smile. say thank you.

fact #7:  embrace rainy days. they're a gift.

fact #8: miss poopy shorts doesn't like crowds. and I need to remember that.

fact #9: fig preserves boiled a bit on the stove & drizzled over a baked pork loin is uh-mazing.

fact #10: yelling, throwing, talking too much, making messes, writing on walls, jumping off furniture, spinning around in circles for fun, not talking at all, making up ridiculous knock-knock jokes, running away, not leaving my side, eating too much, not eating at all. . it's just what they do.

embrace it all.
