here's a heart, mama

i don't know where it came from, but the Eldest started 'giving me a heart' whenever i would say 'bye' or tell her goodnight.

she says, 'here's a heart, mama' and then pretends to place an imaginary heart over my own heart. it seemed to be a special thing between the two of us, and daddy, and i loved it.

now, miss poopy shorts has caught on to the heart-giving and is being extremely generous with them. when i greet her in the morning, i get a heart. when i place her in the bath-tub, i get a heart. when she's done eating, i get a heart. and not just me, but daddy, mimi, dad-dad, pop, bibi, and now her & her sister exchange hearts.

and of course, the Eldest can't be 'one-upped' in the heart-giving area. i'm getting hearts left and right. hearts with snowflakes on them. hearts with Cinderella on the front and the Little Mermaid on the back. i 'catch' hearts from across the room and even the backyard.

strangely, the Eldest gives hearts when i discipline her or if she senses my frustration and impatience. it's as if she wants to make sure we still love each other, and that things are still as they should be.

yep, they are.

i don't know how long this will last, but i'll be sad to see it go.
